Ostrich Eggs

Above: I thought all I needed was an ostrich egg and a Dremel - and let's not forget my ridiculous over-exaggeration of my talent, and the "ease" of this art - to make something this incredible. HA!

Help!

I have a question that is perplexing me...and I need some input. I bought an ostrich egg a few months back - and it's beautiful.

I bought it so I could carve it with my Dremel.

Well...that hasn't worked so well...all my Dremel did was make a tiny little scratch in the outer covering of the shell. I didn't expect it to be so hard to carve! Now that I've figured out I probably won't be carving it, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH IT?? I've looked online - but nothing seems appealing. SO...I've decided to ask my fantabulous readers. Anyone have any ideas? Please?!

Help me out here. What should I do with this poor egg?

And by the way...You just have to see this ostrich egg...if I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it. It's a Musical Wedding Ostrich Egg, retailing (on sale) for $250. I think it's nothing short of amazing!

Even though that is beautiful I don't think I'd spend 250 for it. Too bad the dremel didn't work out for you I would love to see what you came up with. Sorry I don't have a clue as towhat could be done with your egg unless you try painting some kind of scene on it.

I'm sorry -- I have no suggestions when it comes to eggs other than eating them. That wedding egg is AMAZING! My aunt used to make ornaments out of regular eggs. They were so elaborate and beautiful.

I'm so bad at coming up with original ideas, I'm no help whatsoever. Those are amazing though. What talent

i was looking around and it said to use a high speed diamond cutting bit. that was to make a jewelry box. painting the egg, decopauge the egg, that's about all i can find. good luck and looking forward to see what you come up with.

When we were kids we made santas out of regular chicken eggs. We blew out the innards and then pasted a red hat on the top with a little cotton ball on top and then drew in a face and might have used more cotton ball for a beard. We still have one or two left which is remarkable after 35 years or so. They aren't nearly as pretty as the ones you showed here but a little easier to make. I say get a Sharpie and have some fun!

Could you paint it to look like a globe of this world? If you don't want to go to that much trouble, maybe reducing the size of a copied atlas and then gluing on to the surface might not look too bad?

Make it all sparkly and pretty, and turn it into a lovely xmas ornament!

The egg put me under a charm. So I am sitting in awe and speechless. That's just incredible.
So there are no wonder you bought it and tried to make something alike. Maybe, I would done the same and would experience the same results as you did. I didn't know what could be done by you now, but I know what I got while reading your post - thank you for the sharing of this masterpiece with us. I saw not the egg for the $250, but the biggest heart of the master that was put in that creation ... THAT should cost much more than $250
Thanks once again
